Overview
The primary objective of modern medical imaging and radiological sciences is to enable early diagnosis and provide effective treatment for a range of health conditions. Our department is dedicated to this vision by training skilled radiological technologists and researchers, preparing them to meet these critical needs in healthcare. The Department of Medical Imaging and Radiological Sciences (MIRS) leverages unique access to comprehensive clinical and cutting-edge research resources.
Through collaborations with Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, the Research Center of Radiological Sciences, and Chang Gung University, our department offers students the opportunity to gain experience with advanced technologies, including Proton Therapy, MRI, and PET imaging, equipping them with the practical and theoretical knowledge needed in today’s competitive research and clinical field.
Our faculty members bring deep expertise in various specialized areas within medical imaging and radiological sciences, such as medical physics, medical imaging, radiotherapy, and medical engineering. Each of these disciplines contain various research and clinical sub-fields in medical imaging and radiotherapy, and instruments in helping diagnosis and treating human disease, including MRI, PET/CT, SPECT, X-ray imaging, CT, ultrasound, radiation therapy, proton therapy, radiation biology, and radiopharmaceuticals in nuclear medicine. Particular focus is in-depth education in the medical physics and radiological sciences, particularly the applications of advanced technology in medical imaging to clinical diagnosis and treatment. Known for their high research productivity, faculty members consistently secure significant research funding, further enhancing the department’s academic and research environment.
To accommodate an international student body, all graduate-level courses are conducted in English, ensuring accessibility to a global audience and fostering a diverse learning environment. We welcome applications from students with backgrounds in medical imaging and radiological sciences, engineering, and basic sciences, including physics and mathematics, as these disciplines provide a strong foundation for advanced study in medical imaging and radiological sciences.
